Director of IT

Overview:

Directs, establishes, plans, and implements the policies and procedures to support the organization’s business applications and technical infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded IT professional with the ability to both lead all aspects of the function, and step-in frequently in a hands-on, roll up the sleeves environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee IT operations and supervise systems and IT staff, IT projects and project teams, and external third parties
  • Must be familiar with project scheduling and project budgeting as well as, familiar with a wide area of technical and business concepts
  • Develop, manage, and track the IT department’s annual budget
  • Create processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems
  • Provide direction, guidance, and training to IT staff
  • Ensure smooth delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring systems performance
  • Applies expertise to create financial and operational solutions that apply across multiple functional areas
  • Identifies business issues that may impact organizational results
  • Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems that cross functional lines
  • Develops business plans to achieve functional or cross-functional objectives

Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience with JDE E1 and managed services contracts preferred
  • Typically has 10 to 25+ years’ experience working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large information technology projects
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, software, and equipment
  • Negotiates with and influences customers and/or organizational leadership to set priorities and solidify relationships to accomplish operational objectives
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
