Project Manager


The Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for all matters pertaining to the project and the execution of all contract coordination activities in accordance with the contract and the project’s HSE, quality, schedule, and financial goals.  This individual has bottom line responsibility for the financial, schedule and technical success of the project, is responsible for all deliverables of the work produced and is accountable to Shaw Management and to the client for the Project Team’s performance.  The Fabrication Project Manager must be intimately familiar with and manage work to seven baseline documents:  Contract, Scope of Work, Project Execution Plan, Schedule, Project Estimate, Business and Profitability Plan and Risk Management Plan. Primary functions include complying with Shaw’s business & legal policies, managing client expectations, protecting the Company from unnecessary risks, managing resources for the project, providing leadership, and serving as a focal point for client communication.   

The Fabrication Project Manager works closely with the client, Shaw management, and the Project Team to provide direction and coordination of all Project Team members. Additionally, the Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for leading weekly meetings with the client to provide project updates and document any action items or change request that are then addressed in a reasonable timeframe.  

The Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for providing a Project Execution Plan and the establishment and communication of project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy with the Project Team typically inclusive of the following internal functional groups: Engineering, Procurement, Materials, Project Controls, Finance and Plant Operations.  

The Fabrication Project Manager will coordinate with Engineering and the client to monitor and expedite if needed Engineering drawing production, and to receive, revise and communicate client change request. Additional responsibilities include coordination with the client on an isometric release schedule and expediting any client holds.  

The Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for coordinating with Materials Management and Procurement on the timely purchase and delivery of required materials to remain in alignment with the Project Schedule.  

The Fabrication Project Manager will coordinate with Project Controls to ensure timely and accurate cost and schedule data is provided to manage the Project Execution Plan and Project Schedule. Additionally, the Fabrication Project Manager will coordinate with Project Controls on the development of a Project, true-up exercise, Shipping Schedule, and updates to the Backlog Schedule.  

The Fabrication Project Manager is also responsible for project forecasting and the coordination of contract activities to ensure the project is accomplished on time and on budget. Additional responsibilities include a complete understanding of the Contract and the “as-sold” scope of work and communicating them to the Project Team, negotiating and issuing contract change orders within limits of authority, reviewing invoices for accuracy and ensuring collections are timely, and communicating any discrepancies on the Purchase Order as compared to the Project Estimate are noted and communicated to the client.  

The Fabrication Project Manager will maintain good written and oral communication throughout the project with both the client and the project team while also providing weekly/monthly reporting updates to the client, Plant Manager, the Project Team, and Shaw Management. Additionally, the Fabrication Project Manager will also require progress reports from the Project Team and based on an analysis of these reports will modify the Project Execution Plan or Schedule as needed.

Prefer a BS degree.
Prefer domestic and/or international experience as a Project Manager in a global EPC Company executing contracts in industries such as oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, power, nuclear and water.
Typically has the following years of experience: Level III: 15+ years including multiple medium or large projects.
Experience with pipe and/or modular fabrication a plus Knowledge of lump sum turnkey business model a plus.
Candidate should have a broad technical knowledge including construction and engineering processes, procurement, project controls reporting and contract management.
Must be able to communicate with client and project team members positively and effectively.
