Pipe Fabrication Operations Manager

 

General Description:

Assists the General Manger with overall shop operations which may include finance, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, materials, quality assurance/control, human resources and information systems. Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Implements operational policies and procedures. Supervises and directs operations within assigned discipline or area.  Ensures assigned fabrication operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.  Performs general functions inherent in all fabrication supervisory positions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in development of a fabrication shop HSSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job.
  • Plan daily production activities at work site, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress of the project.
  • Minimize potential HR issues by day-to-day contact with shop personnel.
  • Assemble a competent team within the respective discipline.
  • Manage craft subcontracts activities including cost, quality, and schedule and progress.
  • Ensures that subordinates are knowledgeable of specifications and work procedures.
  • Performs work in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost control estimates.
  • Controls change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.
  • Reviews work assignments with craft supervisors and gives instruction relative to the methods and procedures to be used as well as desired results.
  • Ensures subordinate personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum high school diploma or its equivalent with relevant experience. Prefer Bachelor degree in Engineering.
  • Typically has 5-7 years of experience in the pipe fabrication field or in a related area
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks
  • Typically reports to a upper management
